Twelve14 Studios Attends 3rd Annual Noah Angelici Hope Foundation Charity Golf Tournament

Monday, June 21st is a big day for twelve14 Studios. We have been invited for the second year in a row to attend the 3rd Annual Noah Angelici Memorial Golf Event at Southpointe Golf Club. Last year’s event was amazing. We had such a blast and this year is sure to be bigger and better. Again, we send out deepest gratitude to our dear friends at The Noah Angelici Hope Foundation. Their commitment to ending Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) is truly inspirational. Proceeds from the event will go to the Charity of Hope benefiting The Fetal Hope Foundation and the Children’s Home and Lemieux Family Center.

Web Usability Metrics – How your business can benefit

How effective is your current Web site? Is your target market completely satisfied with the information they are receiving from your Web site? Not sure? Maybe it’s time you step into the age of Web usability.

Web usability isn’t a new thing. In fact, it has been around almost as long as Web sites have. However, the importance of Web usability first became apparent to the masses during the Browser Wars of the late 90s, mainly between Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. These were the times of unstable browsers, shaky Web-standards, frequent crashes and countless security holes. This was also the time of the great Dotcom boom where everyone wanted a Web presence with flashy bells and whistles. High-tech ‘solutions’ nobody really needed were what users supposedly wanted. For obvious reasons, customer satisfaction was at an all-time low. Enter Web usability.

The fact is that web developers and graphic designers alike do not necessarily speak the same language as the rest of the populous. We speak in code and pixels. Take this into consideration. A client comes to me looking for my company to create a Web site for a health insurance company. His demographic is men/women 45-65 years of age with low to moderate Internet exposure. Now can I properly develop a Web site that will be used by that demographic without properly testing the site with members of said demographic? It simply isn’t possible. This can be said about any business. Without proper testing by a professional Usability Specialist, you can never be sure your Web site is effectively reaching your intended market.

What are you thinking?

We have recently changed the look and feel of the web site and are interested to see what you think. Feel free to comment on the good, bad or even ugly. Your constructive feedback and/or ideas will be very appreciated. Our main objective is to satisfy the needs of our customer and to let people know about the exciting projects we are working on at the studio. Thanks for your help.

Amani International Coffeehouse & Cafe New Brand Identity

Twelve14 is proud to announce the new Brand identity for Amani International Coffeehouse & Cafe. Working with Terra Jones, the owner of the Northside cafe we were able to create a unique identity for this up and coming coffeehouse.

About Amani International Coffeehouse & Cafe

The Coffeehouse is located in the historic Deutschtown in Pittsburgh, PA. One patron said “They feature local artists on the walls, serve as a meeting place for various community groups and have the best collection of community fliers anywhere on the Northside (advertising everything from items for sale to Film Fests to to graphic designers to events at the New Hazlett Theater or Benedum.” The Coffeehouse serves up a great selection of lattes, wraps, pannis and a great chicken salad! All brews at Amani are organic and Fair Trade certified.

Terra Plans on moving to a more prime location where she will begin to roast her own coffee beans.

Thoughts Behind the logo design:

  • Amani means peace in swahilli.
  • The colors and fonts were chosen to show case the orgins of the name
  • inside the circle you will find three coffee beans repersenting from growth to roast
  • The logo as a whole is a turtle that repersents strength and passioantes. Terra expressed how her coffee shop was like a turtle, slow and steady wins the race. Since she is competing with the Starbucks and Crazy mochas in her near by neighborhood.

Soon we will post the newly designed Amani international website. Stay Tuned.

Fandangling and how it’s become an instant success.

Late in 2009 twelve14 developed the logo for Fandangling. Fandangling is a great concept for children or to spice up a room. The product attaches to a fan creating a large mobile. The logo pretty much speaks for its self. What are your thoughts on the product or the logo concept?
